Wildstrubel by UTMB course maps and aid stations

Six courses that all finish in Crans-Montana: two loops from the resort, and four point-to-point runs from Kandersteg, Adelboden, Lenk and Leukerbad.

September 9 to 12, 2027 Crans-Montana, Valais

Wildstrubel by UTMB has run out of Crans-Montana, a resort in the Swiss canton of Valais, since 2022, and is part of the UTMB World Series. The 2027 edition is September 9 to 12. The race days and start times for 2027 aren't out yet.

The Wild 110 is a loop around the Wildstrubel massif. It goes east to Leukerbad, over the Gemmi pass into the canton of Bern, through Kandersteg, Adelboden and Lenk, up to the Wildstrubel hut at about 2,790 m, and back into Valais over the Rawyl pass. The Wild 70, Wild 55, Glacier Marathon and Wild 25 start in villages along the way and finish with it in Crans-Montana. The map shows the 2026 courses and cutoffs, which the race pages still carry.

Download the map before you go. GPS shows where you are without a signal, and crews will want it too: the road over the Hahnenmoos pass between Adelboden and Lenk is closed to traffic, and you can only reach some of the points runners pass, like Varneralp, on foot.

This is an unofficial guide: Goat Maps isn't affiliated with Wildstrubel by UTMB. Check the official site before you enter or race.

In 2026 the Wild 110 left Crans-Montana on Friday night in three waves from 22:30, sorted by UTMB Index. You climb in the dark to Varneralp, drop to Leukerbad, then go up the Gemmi pass (2,268 m) into the canton of Bern and down to Kandersteg. From there you cross the Bunderchrinde to Adelboden, where your one drop bag waits, and the Hahnenmoos pass to Lenk, before the climb to the Wildstrubel hut, the high point. The Rawyl pass (2,427 m) takes you back into Valais, past the Tseuzier lake and along the Ro bisse to the finish.

Ueschine and Louwene have water only. The course crosses the federal wildlife reserve of Leukerbad, where you have to stay on the official course, in training too, and keep your headlamp dim and pointed at the ground. There's also a cutoff at the junction below the Wildstrubel hut (Sat 23:30 in 2026), and runners stopped there walk on to Tseuzier. Stops and cutoffs are 2026's.

The Wild 70 follows the 110's route from Kandersteg. In 2026 it started there on Friday in three waves from 07:00. The first climb goes straight up to the Bunderchrinde at about 2,380 m. You drop to Adelboden past the Chuenisbärgli World Cup ski run, cross the Hahnenmoos pass to Lenk and climb to the Wildstrubel hut. After the Rawyl pass it's down to the Tseuzier dam and along the Ro bisse to Crans-Montana.

There are no drop bags: the bag you leave at the start goes to the finish. Ueschine is a single fountain and Louwene water only, so fill up in Kandersteg. Stops and cutoffs are 2026's.

In 2026 the Wild 55 started in Adelboden on Saturday in four waves from 07:50. You go up along the Chuenisbärgli World Cup ski run and follow the Via Alpina through the pastures to Lenk. From Lenk it's about 1,700 m of climbing to the Wildstrubel hut. The Rawyl pass brings you back into Valais for the run down past Tseuzier to Crans-Montana.

Lenk is the only aid station where a crew can help you. At Tseuzier supporters can cheer but not assist. Stops and cutoffs are 2026's.

The marathon started from Kronenplatz in Lenk on Friday morning in 2026, in two waves from 08:00. It passes the Simmenfälle waterfalls and climbs to Iffigenalp, the first aid station, then up to the Iffigensee and the Wildhorn hut, which has drinks only. Above the hut you cross the Schnidejoch, an ancient pass and archaeological site at 2,756 m, with views of the Wildhorn, Tungel and Chilchli glaciers.

The descent into Valais passes Lake Téné and the Tseuzier lake. Tseuzier is the last aid station and the only place your crew can help. The Bisse du Ro, a path hung above the Rhône valley, takes you on to Crans-Montana. Simmenfälle has water only. Stops and cutoffs are 2026's.

In 2026 the Wild 25 left Leukerbad on Sunday in three waves from 08:30. The fastest runners by UTMB Index started last, at 11:30, in a Performance wave, and only that wave races for prize money. The one big climb, about 950 m, takes you to Varneralp, the high point at about 2,230 m and an aid station. From there you cross the pastures to Colombire and finish on forest trails and paths along the bisses into Crans-Montana.

No crew help is allowed, and Varneralp can only be reached on foot. Stops are 2026's.

The Wild 10 is open to anyone 10 or older and is free for under-18s. You start on 2 km of road, climb a steep path to Vermala and cross the finish slope of the World Cup downhill twice on the way up to Merbé, the high point at about 1,930 m, with drinks. From there you descend to Plan-Mayens and run the last 3 km downhill, finishing past Lake Grenon. In 2026 it started on Saturday in two waves, at 09:15 and 09:30.

One supporter can help you at Merbé, which they reach by cable car.

Registration

There's no lottery and no waiting list. For 2027, runners with a UTMB Index get a 48-hour window from 10:00 on November 18, 2026 to 10:00 on November 20. After that, entry is open to everyone until each race sells out. The minimum age, counted by year of birth, is 18 for the Wild 110, 70, 55 and Glacier Marathon and 16 for the Wild 25.

The registration conditions list the Wild 110 at CHF 220 to 275 and the Wild 25 at CHF 85 to 110, plus an 8% admin fee. You don't need a medical certificate, but you do need your own accident insurance, valid in Switzerland, that covers search and rescue. Rescue there isn't free.

Getting there and the shuttles

Crans-Montana is about 20 minutes' drive from Sierre, 1h30 from Lausanne, 2h15 from Geneva and 2 hours from Bern. A funicular runs up from Sierre, five minutes from the train station. The finish, with showers and food, is at Place Ycoor.

Only the Wild 110 and Wild 10 start in Crans-Montana. For the other four the organizer runs buses from Crans-Montana to the start, with a CHF 5 reservation fee. In 2026 you booked them on your dashboard from July. They ran on race morning for the Wild 70 and Wild 25, and the afternoon before for the Wild 55 and Glacier Marathon, so for those two plan a night in Adelboden or Lenk.

Crewing and pacers

One person per runner may go into the aid stations where help is allowed, and all they can hand over is a bag of 30 liters at most. On the Wild 110 that's Leukerbad, Kandersteg, Adelboden, Lenk and Tseuzier. On the Wild 70 it's Adelboden, Lenk and Tseuzier, on the Wild 55 only Lenk, and on the Glacier Marathon only Tseuzier. The Wild 25 allows none. Help anywhere else costs a time penalty, and no one who isn't registered may run with you outside the marked zones by the aid stations, so there are no pacers.

Following the 110 takes the most planning. There's no supporter bus, and the Lötschberg car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg doesn't run at night (in 2026 the last one left at 23:06 and the first at 05:15). The way round from Crans-Montana via Bern, Spiez and Frutigen takes about 3 hours. Adelboden to Lenk is about 1h30 by road through Frutigen and Spiez, because the Hahnenmoos road is closed. Swiss public transport reaches Kandersteg, Adelboden and Lenk. For the Wild 70 and 55, a supporters' bus ran to the start, Lenk and the finish in 2026.

Weather and kit

September in Crans-Montana averages highs of about 16°C (61°F) and lows of about 7°C (44°F) at the Montana weather station (1981 to 2010), and three of the courses reach 2,788 m at the Wildstrubel hut. The regulations warn of night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow at altitude. The kit list has a hot weather kit and a cold weather kit, and the organizer tells you before bib pickup if one is required.

For the 110 and 70 the basic kit includes two working headlamps, a waterproof jacket with a hood, a warm layer, 1 liter of water and a smartphone with roaming that works in Switzerland. The phone stays on the whole race with the LiveTrail app running, and airplane mode can get you a penalty.

Wildstrubel FAQ

When is Wildstrubel by UTMB 2027?

September 9 to 12, 2027, in Crans-Montana. The race days and start times aren't out yet. In 2026 the Wild 70, Glacier Marathon and Wild 110 started on Friday, the Wild 55 and Wild 10 on Saturday and the Wild 25 on Sunday.

Is the Wild 110 a Western States qualifier?

Yes. Western States lists the Wildstrubel 110 km with a 27 hour limit, so you need to finish in under 27 hours, though the race itself gives you 30. The September 2027 race counts for the 2028 lottery.

Is there a lottery for Wildstrubel?

No. Entry is first come, first served, with a 48-hour head start for runners with a UTMB Index from November 18, 2026. Then it opens to everyone until each race sells out, and there's no waiting list.

Where does each Wildstrubel race start?

The Wild 110 and Wild 10 start in Crans-Montana, the Wild 70 in Kandersteg, the Wild 55 in Adelboden, the Glacier Marathon in Lenk and the Wild 25 in Leukerbad. All six finish in Crans-Montana.

Are there drop bags at Wildstrubel?

Only on the Wild 110, which takes a 30 liter bag to Adelboden at 60 km and then on to the finish. On the Wild 70, 55, Glacier Marathon and 25, the bag you get at bib pickup goes from the start to the finish.

Can you have a pacer at Wildstrubel?

No. Running with someone who isn't registered is only allowed in the marked zones near the aid stations. Anywhere else it's a time penalty.
