Ultra Trail Whistler course maps and aid stations

Four races on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, from a 10K out of Spruce Grove Park to a 100K that climbs both.

June 25 to 27, 2027 Whistler, British Columbia

Ultra Trail Whistler is the UTMB World Series race in Whistler, in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia. It was first run in 2024, as the series' first event in Canada. The 2026 race was in late August; in 2027 it moves to June 25 to 27.

The 100K and 50K start together at Creekside at 5 AM on Saturday and climb Whistler Mountain first. The 25K and 10K run on Sunday from Spruce Grove Park, where every race finishes. The organizer still shows the 2026 courses: the 2027 ones wait on permits and land access approvals, and it expects them to be similar, though not necessarily the same. The maps, km and cutoffs on this page are 2026's.

The race guide warns that cell and satellite coverage is limited, enough to delay runner tracking by up to two hours. Download the map before you go, whether you're running or crewing. Your phone's GPS shows where you are without a signal.

This is an unofficial guide: Goat Maps isn't affiliated with Ultra Trail Whistler by UTMB. Check the official site before you enter or race.

The biggest climb comes first: 1,536 m up from the Creekside Gondola to Whistler Summit in 11.6 km. You pass Roundhouse, drop toward the base and go up Blackcomb to Rendezvous, then come down for the second visit to Big Burn. The rest is forest trail around the valley, past Pump Up, Weather Check, Creekside and Spruce, with the last hydration station at Lost Lake. The organizer sums it up as river trails to high alpine views.

Crews and drop bags wait at both Big Burn visits and at Weather Check. After Big Burn 2 there are 13.7 km to Pump Up with only water at Mel's Dilemma in between. Three road crossings, at Highway 99 near 68.6 km, at Creekside near 79.1 km and at the main village entrance near 84 km, are neutral zones: the time you spend in them comes off your race time. All of this is the 2026 course.

The 50K starts with the 100K at 5 AM and follows it over Whistler Summit and Roundhouse. From Big Burn it climbs Blackcomb to Rendezvous, then heads down past Mid Station to the finish at Spruce Grove Park. Most of the 3,219 m of climbing comes in those two ascents.

Crews can only see you at the start and finish. The cutoffs come early: Roundhouse at 10:30 AM, Big Burn at 12:30 PM, Rendezvous at 1:30 PM. These are the 2026 course and cutoffs.

You leave Spruce Grove Park on the Lost Lake trails, then climb Blackcomb past Big Burn and Mid Station to Rendezvous at 9.7 km, which you have to leave by noon. Coming down, you pass Mid Station again before the park. That's 1,444 m of climbing over 26.1 km on the 2026 course.

The organizer calls it a beginner course: mixed surfaces, a punchy climb onto the lower slopes of Blackcomb, then a steady descent back to Spruce Grove Park. The only station on the 2026 course is Big Burn, with water, at 4.7 km. You have six hours, which is plenty.

Registration

You enter online through UTMB, and the 2027 races were open when this page was checked. All-in prices were CAD $424.86 for the 100K, $294.83 for the 50K, $191.84 for the 25K and $122.30 for the 10K. The organizer says prices can go up at any time. UTMB Community charity bibs cost more and give part of the fee to a local charity.

Entries can't be refunded or transferred, but you can defer once to the next year if you ask by May 26, 2027. You must be 18 for the 100K and 50K, 16 for the 25K and 12 for the 10K. Open distances take entries at the expo, but not on race day.

Getting to Whistler

Whistler is about 125 km north of Vancouver, a two-hour drive from Vancouver International Airport on the Sea to Sky Highway.

In 2026 there was parking at Spruce Grove Park on Friday only. On race weekend runners and spectators parked at Whistler Day Lot 4, which is paid, and took the free shuttle to the park. For the 5 AM start at Creekside, shuttles ran from the same lot between 3:30 and 6 AM. Bib pickup was at the Spruce Grove Park expo, with race morning pickup at both starts. The 2027 guide isn't out yet.

Crewing and pacing

Only the 100K has crew stops on course: Big Burn, twice, and Weather Check. Drop bags go to the same three places, and in 2026 they had to be in by 4 AM on race morning. For the other races your crew meets you at the start and finish.

There are no pacers. The rules forbid running with anyone who isn't registered, outside the spectator zones. Tracking is LiveTrail timing splits at some aid stations, not live GPS, so your crew may wait a while for an update.

Whistler Blackcomb runs its bike park during the race. Give way to bikes and vehicles where the course crosses bike trails and service roads. Bears and cougars live here too, and the race guide asks you to know what to do if you meet one.

Weather and what to carry

June in Whistler averages highs around 20°C (68°F) and lows around 7°C (45°F), with about 59 mm of rain, by the town station's 1981 to 2010 normals. That station is in the valley at 658 m. Whistler Summit, at 2,165 m on the course, is about 1,500 m higher and will be colder.

The 100K's mandatory kit includes a pack, a phone, a collapsible cup, 1 liter of water, a headlamp with spare batteries, a food reserve, a hooded jacket, a hat, a safety blanket and a whistle. The 50K's list is shorter: phone, cup, 1 liter of water, food reserve, safety blanket and whistle. The aid stations have no disposable cups. The organizer can add a hot or cold weather kit a few days before the race, so bring both weather kits. If you start with poles, you carry them to the finish.

Ultra Trail Whistler FAQ

When is Ultra Trail Whistler 2027?

June 25 to 27, 2027. The 100K and 50K start at 5 AM on Saturday, June 26, and the 25K and 10K on Sunday, June 27, at 8 and 9 AM. The 2026 race was August 22 and 23.

Is the 2027 course the same as 2026?

Not necessarily. The organizer shows the 2026 courses for reference and says the 2027 courses wait on permits and land access approvals. It expects them to be similar and will publish new maps, GPX files, aid stations and cutoffs once they're approved. The maps here are the 2026 courses.

Is Ultra Trail Whistler a Western States qualifier?

The 100K is. Western States lists Whistler by UTMB as a 100 km qualifier, finished in under 24 hours, for its 2027 and 2028 lotteries.

How many Running Stones do you get at Ultra Trail Whistler?

3 for the 100K, 2 for the 50K and 1 for the 25K. The top 3 women and top 3 men in the 100K and 50K also earn a spot in CCC and OCC at the World Series Finals, which they pay for.

Can you have a pacer at Ultra Trail Whistler?

No. The rules don't allow anyone who isn't registered to run with you, outside the spectator zones. 100K crews can meet you at Big Burn and Weather Check.

Is there cell service on the Ultra Trail Whistler course?

It's limited. The race guide warns that limited cell and satellite connectivity can delay tracking updates by up to two hours. Download the course map in Goat Maps before race day: your phone's GPS still shows where you are without a signal.
