TransRockies Run Pass to Pub stage maps

Three days of trail running from the foot of Hope Pass to Red Cliff: 51 miles in the Full Pint, 35 in the Half Pint.

July 26 to 28, 2027 Leadville, Colorado

For years the TransRockies Run was a six-day stage race from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek. The last one ran in August 2025. In its place the organizer now puts on Pass to Pub, a three-day race on what it calls the best sections of the old course. It was first set for July 2026, but UltraSignup lists that edition as cancelled, and the next one is July 26 to 28, 2027.

Day one goes over Hope Pass from Vicksburg to Twin Lakes. Day two runs from Leadville to the camp at Nova Guides, and day three from Nova Guides to Red Cliff. Every day has a Full Pint and a Half Pint, except the last, when everyone runs the same 14 miles. You run solo; there's no team category.

The organizer says there's no internet at all at Nova Guides or in Red Cliff, so download the map in Leadville. Your phone's GPS still shows where you are without a signal.

This is an unofficial guide: Goat Maps isn't affiliated with TransRockies Run Pass to Pub. Check the official site before you enter or race.

The Full Pint starts in Vicksburg and heads 1.7 miles west to the first aid station, where the Half Pint starts. From there it turns north and climbs to Hope Pass at 12,500 feet, then drops to the second aid station at mile 5. The rest is the long descent to Twin Lakes Reservoir, low point around 9,200 feet, where your drop bag waits at the finish.

The map places the start, the first aid station and the finish. The course line also carries the organizer's pin for the mile 5 station, though the stop list doesn't name it.

There's no Half Pint on the last day: both fields run the same 14 miles from Nova Guides to Red Cliff, starting at 8:00. The climb tops out at about 11,800 feet near the first aid station at mile 6, and the second comes at mile 11.4. Then it's down to Red Cliff at about 8,700 feet and the finish at Mango's, where the awards are at 1:00 PM.

Both aid stations are pinned on the course line from the organizer's map, but the stop list has only the start and finish.

Registration and what it costs

Registration for 2027 opens November 11, 2026 on UltraSignup, with a limit of 500 runners. Entry is $699 for either distance. You can pay a $299 deposit and have the rest charged on March 30, 2027.

You can switch distance after you sign up, and even run the Full Pint one day and the Half Pint the next. There are no refunds or credits; a transfer to another runner may be allowed for $50.

Entry covers the shuttles between Leadville, the starts, the finishes and Nova Guides. Camping at Nova Guides is extra: a tent for one for three nights, with dinners, breakfasts and the shower truck, is $350. Bring your own sleeping bag and pad.

Getting to Leadville

Packet pickup is Sunday, July 25, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at The Freight, 320 E 9th Street in Leadville, with opening ceremonies after. A race shuttle leaves Denver International Airport at 12:30 PM that day for $130 plus tip; it isn't included in the entry.

Sunday night is on you, and the organizer warns Leadville's rooms sell out, so book early. Park at 445 McWethy Drive, where the stage 1 shuttles load from 6:00 to 7:15 AM. After the race, shuttles run from Nova Guides back to Denver on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning; the organizer allows 2.5 hours for the drive.

Supporters and drop bags

Friends and family are welcome, but they can't drive on the course. They can watch only at the spots in the map book, and a vehicle camping pass gets them into the staging areas along with driving directions for the week.

Bring a drop bag to every start: the organizer suggests a puffy jacket, dry shorts and shirt, and flip flops. It's waiting at the finish each day: Twin Lakes Reservoir, then Nova Guides, then Mango's in Red Cliff.

Weather and mandatory gear

July in Leadville averages a high of 71°F and a low of 39°F, by NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals. The organizer warns that afternoon thundershowers aren't unusual, some years have brought snow up high, and nights at Leadville and Nova Guides drop into the high 30s or low 40s.

Gear is checked at the start corral each day, and you won't start without it: a waterproof or water-resistant shell, a warm hat that covers your ears, gloves, an emergency blanket and a cup, since the aid stations have none.

TransRockies FAQ

When is the TransRockies Run 2027?

July 26 to 28, 2027. Packet pickup is in Leadville on Sunday, July 25, and the three stages run Monday to Wednesday.

Is the TransRockies Run still six days?

No. 2025 was the last six-day race. It's now Pass to Pub, three days and 51 miles in the Full Pint or 35 miles in the Half Pint.

What's the difference between the Full Pint and the Half Pint?

The Full Pint is 51 miles with 9,635 feet of climbing over three days, and the Half Pint 35 miles with 6,855 feet. The Half Pint starts partway along on stages 1 and 2; on stage 3 everyone runs the same course.

Can you change distance during the TransRockies Run?

Yes. The organizer lets you change distance after registering and run the Full Pint on one day and the Half Pint on another.

Is there cell service at the TransRockies Run camp?

Not much. The organizer says connections are good in Leadville but there's no internet at Nova Guides or in Red Cliff. It keeps two Starlinks at camp for emergency texts.

What happens if you miss a checkpoint?

Each stage has one to three mandatory checkpoints, and the rules add a 60-minute penalty for each one you miss.
