The Traka course maps and feed zones

Three unmarked gravel races out of Girona over the first weekend of May: 100, 200 and 300 km.

April 30 to May 2, 2027 Girona, Catalonia

The Traka is a gravel race run by Klassmark out of Girona, with its start, finish and event venue at the Parc de les Ribes del Ter, five minutes from the old town. For 2027 there are three distances on three days: the 200 on Friday April 30, the 300 on Saturday May 1 and the 100 on Sunday May 2. The 200 and the 300 count for the Gravel Earth Series.

None of the courses are marked. The rules say you must follow the GPS track and carry a GPS device with the official route loaded, and if you leave the track you have to come back to the exact point where you left it. Load the map on your phone too: GPS works without a signal.

The 2027 tracks and feed zones were still listed as to be confirmed when this page was checked, so the map shows the 2026 courses and feed zones, and the cutoffs below are 2026's.

This is an unofficial guide: Goat Maps isn't affiliated with The Traka. Check the official site before you enter or race.

In 2026 this course was the Traka 360: 325 km with 4,150 m of climbing, 80% of it unpaved, a high point of 420 m and a 22 hour limit. This map shows that course with its feed zones and cutoffs. For 2027 the organizer lists the Traka 300 at 300 km with the same 4,150 m and a 20 hour limit, all to be confirmed, starting on Saturday May 1 at 5:50 for PRO men, 6:00 for PRO women and 6:10 for the open field.

The 2026 course went north past the Colomers dam to the feed zone in Peralada at km 115, then south through L'Armentera to Casavells, where your life bag waits, and Cassà de la Selva. Between Peralada and Casavells there's 105 km with only a water point, so leave Peralada full. After Cassà it's 76 km to the finish.

Front and rear lights are mandatory in the dark, and every bike is checked at check-in before the start. You must be of legal age to ride the 300.

In 2026 the 200 was 202 km with 2,650 m of climbing, 84% unpaved, with a high point of 414 m and a 12 hour limit, and the 2027 page gives the same figures, still to be confirmed. The organizer expects the fastest man in about 6 hours and the fastest woman in about 7.

On the 2026 course the first stop was a water point at the Colomers dam at km 69. The feed zone at Casavells, km 96, held your life bag, and the assistance area was at Corçà, km 99. Cassà de la Selva, at km 125, was both a feed zone and an assistance area with a mechanical point. From there it's 77 km to the finish with nothing listed in between.

For 2027 the 200 is open category only, with the start from 7:00 on Friday April 30.

The 100 is 100 km with 1,350 m of climbing, 79% unpaved, topping out at 360 m. You have 7 hours, and the fastest rider takes about 3. It starts from 8:15 on Sunday May 2.

In 2026 the only stop was at Cassà de la Selva, km 43.8, which was the feed zone and the assistance area, with an 11:30 cutoff. That leaves 56 km to the finish on what you carry. Minors can enter the 100 and the 200 with the organizer's authorization form, and under 16s must be accompanied the whole way.

Registration

When this page was checked, the registration page showed the 100, 200 and 300 all sold out for 2027. Entries can't be refunded and can't be moved to another year, though you can change the name or distance on your entry until a month before the race.

The PRO category is only on the 300, and only for riders who qualified through the Gravel Earth Series or a By The Traka event, or who get one of the organizer's wild cards.

The By The Traka races (Gravel Desert, Ranxo Gravel, The River and Santa Vall) give their riders priority access to Traka registration. You get a 48 hour window to sign up before everyone else, though it doesn't hold a place for you, and the Traka distances it opens depend on the distance you rode. For the 200 the registration page points you to Santa Vall by The Traka.

Getting to Girona

Girona is about 100 km northeast of Barcelona. Girona airport is 10 km south of the city, and Girona's high speed rail station has trains to Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza and the French border.

Everything happens at the Parc de les Ribes del Ter, so you can ride to the start from your hotel or apartment. Only cars and motorcycles may park at the start and finish areas; the organizer lists separate parking areas for vans and motorhomes, some of them paid or unguarded.

Feed zones and support crews

Feed zones are for riders only: nobody can hand you food or fix your bike there. Outside help is allowed only in the marked assistance areas, which aren't always where the feed zones are, and help anywhere else gets you penalized. In 2026 they were at Peralada, Corçà and Cassà de la Selva for the 300, Corçà and Cassà for the 200, and Cassà for the 100.

The feed zones and water points don't give out cups, so carry bottles. Every gel, bar and bottle you carry or pick up has to be marked with your race number (PRO riders are exempt), and you can only drop wrappers in the marked trash zones. If you abandon, the sweep vans wait at the feed stations.

Weather and what to carry

At Girona airport, May averages a high of 23.3°C and a low of 10.2°C, with 65 mm of rain over about 7 days (1991 to 2020 normals). The rules ask you to watch for last minute changes, and the organizer can shorten or change the course for safety, for example if rivers rise.

You need a GPS device with the track loaded and a helmet on the whole time. On the 300 you also need front and rear lights after dark. Aero bars are banned, and so are headphones and any device for getting instructions.

The Traka FAQ

When is The Traka 2027?

April 30 to May 2, 2027, in Girona. The 200 starts on Friday April 30, the 300 on Saturday May 1 and the 100 on Sunday May 2.

Is The Traka course marked?

No. You follow the official GPS track, and a GPS device with the route loaded is mandatory. In 2026 the organizer said the final track and technical briefing would be sent on the afternoon of April 29.

Can I still enter The Traka 2027?

All three distances showed as sold out when this page was checked. The By The Traka events give their riders priority access to Traka registration: signing up for Santa Vall by The Traka, for one, gives priority for The Traka in the same year. Priority doesn't guarantee a place.

Is The Traka part of the Gravel Earth Series?

The 200 and the 300 are. Once you have ridden a series event, the category you chose at registration stays the same for the rest of the season.

Is there still a Traka 560?

The 2027 site lists only the 300, 200 and 100. In 2026 the weekend also had the Traka Adventure 560, with 10,000 m of climbing.

How long do you have to finish The Traka?

7 hours for the 100 and 12 hours for the 200. The 300 is listed at 20 hours for 2027, down from 22 hours for the 325 km course in 2026.
