In 2026 the race opened with its biggest day of climbing, 2,175 m in 98 km. A mountain track and a stretch of road lead to a long climb through the Atlas, then a technical descent drops you to a crossing of the N'goum river. After a second climb on good track you ride a narrow canyon that usually has water in it.
The Škoda Challenge came at Boutharar: 4.5 km and almost 400 m of climbing, with ramps up to 15%. The fastest man and woman each got 60 seconds off. The last part winds through a palm grove, over small bridges across the water channels, then out on wide tracks to the finish.
