Tenerife Bluetrail course maps and aid stations

Six courses across Tenerife, all but the Vertical finishing on the north coast at Puerto de la Cruz. The longest starts on the beach at Los Cristianos and goes over Teide.

April 8 to 10, 2027 Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

Tenerife Bluetrail is the island's UTMB World Series race, run by the Cabildo de Tenerife through its public company Ideco. The 110K starts on the south coast at Los Cristianos, crosses Teide National Park and climbs to 3,555 m, which the organizer says makes it the highest race in Spain. The 82K starts in Vilaflor and the new 68K in La Esperanza. The 47K, 24K and the Vertical Night Challenge stay on the north side above the Orotava Valley, and every race but the Vertical ends in Puerto de la Cruz.

The 2026 edition was cancelled two days before it was due to start: Storm Therese was on its way, and the island's emergency plan closed the trails. The 2027 race, 8 to 10 April, is the 15th edition.

The map shows the 2027 courses for the 82K, 68K and Vertical. For the 110K, 47K and 24K it shows the 2025 courses, which are the ones the organizer still publishes. The 110K and the Vertical run at night and the 24K finishes in the dark, so download the map before you travel. GPS will show where you are on the line without a phone signal.

This is an unofficial guide: Goat Maps isn't affiliated with Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB. Check the official site before you enter or race.

You start on Los Cristianos beach at 11 PM on Friday and climb through the night to Vilaflor and the Parador. From there it's 1,433 m of climbing in 10 km to La Rambleta at 3,532 m, then a long drop to Portillo Alto and down through pine and laurel forest to the coast path into Puerto de la Cruz. Poles of any kind are banned in the Roques de García area after the Parador, and inside the national park only rubber tips are allowed. They're checked at bib pickup.

Your drop bag waits at the Parador. Crews can meet you at Vilaflor, Portillo Alto and Tigaiga. The organizer hasn't published a 2027 line for the 110K yet, so the map shows the 2025 course; the cutoffs are the ones on its race page now.

The 82K replaces the 73K and adds about 10 km to it. It starts by the church of San Pedro in Vilaflor, drops to the Charca de Trevejos and loops back to Vilaflor before heading into the national park by the Camino Real de Chasna and the Paisaje Lunar. The Filo trail keeps you above 2,100 m, looking across Las Cañadas to Teide, and then it's a long descent through the pines to the coast.

The stretch from Madre del Agua to El Filo is 17.7 km, and El Filo has drinks only. Crews can only meet you at Tigaiga. The map shows the 2027 course.

The 47K starts at the Pinolere Ethnographic Park above La Orotava, in waves seeded by UTMB Index. It climbs through pine and heather to Picachos, then drops to Base del Asomadero. The Asomadero climb comes next, more than 600 m up in just over 2 km. The longer races climb it too, and the 24K goes over it.

There's no outside help on this course. The 47K Relay runs the same course with two runners, who hand over at the Chanajiga recreation area after 22.5 km. The line on the map and the aid station cutoffs are 2025's, still what the organizer publishes. With the 2027 limit of 11 hours 30 minutes, the finish closes at 8 PM.

The Vertical runs on Thursday night, on a new course for 2027. It starts on Playa del Socorro in Los Realejos, follows part of Route 040 and the steep Madre Juana trail, and finishes at the Mirador de La Corona after 850 m of climbing. There are no aid stations on the way, and no outside help is allowed.

Registration

Entry is direct through UTMB, with no lottery. In June 2026 runners entered in the cancelled 2026 race got a first window, for a 10 € fee, then UTMB Index holders, then everyone else. The 110K and 82K sold out before general entry opened: the national park's management plan caps each at 400 runners. When this page was checked, the 47K and 24K had sold out too, and the 68K, the 47K Relay and the Vertical were still open. Entries close on 10 March 2027 or when a race is full, and the organizer may keep a waiting list.

Prices rise in three tiers: the 110K runs 195 € to 235 €, the 82K 150 € to 190 €, the 68K 110 € to 140 €, the 47K 70 € to 110 €, the 24K 55 € to 85 € and the Vertical 30 €. Canary Islands residents get 30% off, and an 8% fee goes on top. Entries can't be transferred, and if you withdraw, you only get money back with the optional cancellation insurance.

Getting to the starts

Tenerife has two airports. Tenerife South is the convenient one for the 110K start at Los Cristianos, and Tenerife North is closest to Puerto de la Cruz, where every race but the Vertical finishes.

The organizer runs buses to every start for 10 € a ride if you book with your entry, 15 € after that, paid by card at bib pickup. For the 110K they leave Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna, Santa Cruz and Candelaria on Friday evening for Los Cristianos. Your bag goes from the start to the finish in Puerto de la Cruz, so leave a change of clothes in it.

Weather and what to carry

The weather station at Izaña Observatory, 2,369 m up, averages April highs of 12.3°C and lows of 4.1°C (NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals), and the 110K goes more than 1,100 m higher. In 2026 a storm with very strong winds was enough to cancel the whole event.

The 110K and 82K kit is a full mountain list: a waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof overtrousers, a warm second layer, long tights, warm waterproof gloves, a survival blanket, a whistle, 1.5 liters of water, a cup and a smartphone with the LiveTrail app running. The 110K needs two headlamps, the 82K one.

Tenerife Bluetrail FAQ

When is Tenerife Bluetrail 2027?

8 to 10 April 2027. The Vertical Night Challenge is on Thursday the 8th, the 68K and 110K start on Friday the 9th, and the 82K, 47K and 24K run on Saturday the 10th.

Why was Tenerife Bluetrail 2026 cancelled?

Storm Therese. With very strong gusts, storms, coastal hazards and locally heavy rain forecast, the Cabildo de Tenerife activated the island's emergency plan, which bans outdoor sport and closes the trails. The organizer cancelled the race and all its events on 17 March, two days before it was due to start. About 3,400 runners from 64 countries had entered.

Do you need a UTMB Index for the Tenerife Bluetrail 110K?

Yes, a UTMB Index in the 100K or 100M category. The organizer sets its cutoffs for a 100M index of 410 and advises runners below that not to enter.

Can you use poles at Tenerife Bluetrail?

Yes, but in Teide National Park on the 110K and 82K only with rubber tips, which are checked and marked at bib pickup. Metal tips earn a one hour penalty. On the 110K no poles at all are allowed through the Roques de García area. If you start with poles, you carry them to the finish.

Can you have a crew or pacer at Tenerife Bluetrail?

One person with a bag of up to 30 liters can help you at the listed points: Vilaflor, Portillo Alto and Tigaiga on the 110K, Tigaiga on the 82K, and La Caldera and Tigaiga on the 68K. The 47K, 24K and Vertical allow no outside help. Pacers aren't allowed.

Is Tenerife Bluetrail a UTMB qualifier?

Finishing gives Running Stones for the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc draw: 4 for the 110K, 3 for the 82K and 68K, 2 for the 47K and 1 for the 24K or the 47K Relay.
