Québec Mega Trail course maps and aid stations

Four trail races that finish at Mont-Sainte-Anne, the longest a 133 km point-to-point from Baie-Saint-Paul that starts on Friday night.

July 1 to 4, 2027 Mont-Sainte-Anne and Charlevoix, Quebec

Québec Mega Trail calls itself the most prestigious ultra-trail race in Canada. It's based at Mont-Sainte-Anne, 40 minutes from Quebec City. In 2026 about 3,900 runners from 25 countries were expected across its 11 races, from a 1 km kids' run to the 135K.

The long courses come in from the northeast. The 135K starts on Friday night in Baie-Saint-Paul and the 80K at dawn on Saturday from the quay at Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, and both follow the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix before the Mestachibo trail in the Sainte-Anne River canyon. The 50K starts closer in at Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, and the 32K at Mont-Sainte-Anne itself. All four finish at Mont-Sainte-Anne. The 25K, 15K, 6K and the Trans-QMT stage races aren't mapped here.

The map shows the 2026 courses and cutoffs. The 2027 ones weren't out when this page was checked. Download it before you go. The 135K spends a whole night on the trail and crews can reach only half its stations. Two of its water points are self-service tables with nobody there.

This is an unofficial guide: Goat Maps isn't affiliated with Québec Mega Trail. Check the official site before you enter or race.

You start at 8 p.m. on Friday in the courtyard of the Hôtel & Spa Le Germain Charlevoix in Baie-Saint-Paul, after a compulsory gear check there. The first stretch follows the St. Lawrence to Mont Ligorie, then nearly all of the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix to Saint-Tite-des-Caps. From there the Dalle Humide trail leads into the Sainte-Anne River canyon and the Mestachibo trail runs up to the Jean-Larose Falls. Then comes Mont-Sainte-Anne, which you climb almost twice, and the last 20 km are on its north side before you come back south to finish. The race page rounds it to 134 km with 6,000 m of climbing.

Crews can't meet you until Le Massif at km 38.8, and after that not again until Saint-Tite-des-Caps at km 79.7. Halte Charlevoix and Fief are water tables with no volunteers, and Cap Gribane is a no-drop zone, so you can't quit there. Expect a stream crossing under a culvert before Saint-Tite and a small one at km 125. The cutoffs shown are from 2026, when the race also started on Friday at 8 p.m.

The 80K starts at 5 a.m. on Saturday from the quay at Petite-Rivière-Saint-François and climbs the Massif de Charlevoix to the Sentier des Caps. From Le Massif on it runs through the same aid stations as the 135K, and you finish on the very technical Mestachibo trail. The race page gives 77 km and 3,370 m of climbing, and a technical level of 5 out of 5.

Crews are allowed at Le Massif and Saint-Tite-des-Caps only, and your one drop bag waits at Saint-Tite. Just before Saint-Tite you cross a stream under a culvert, and from there on a headlamp is compulsory. The limit is 19 hours and the cutoffs shown are 2026's. In 2026 it was the long-distance race of the Canadian Trail Running Championships.

The 50K starts at the Mont-Sainte-Anne cross-country ski center on Rang Saint-Julien, in Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, and opens with the Mestachibo trail. Poles are banned for that whole section, km 0 to 17.5, and you can use them from the MSA aid station. Then you go up and down Mont-Sainte-Anne twice and finish with a loop of the trails on its north side. The race page gives 51 km and 2,300 m of climbing, with a 12-hour limit.

You start in a wave by the finish time you pick at registration, and can't change it later. The 2027 race starts on Friday at 7 a.m. In 2026 it started on Saturday at 8:30, and the cutoffs shown are that year's clock times, so don't plan on them for 2027. Crews can meet you at MSA, Summit 1 and the Auberge du Fondeur.

The 32K starts on Saturday at 8 a.m. from the upper plateau at Mont-Sainte-Anne. The first 10 km are the hard part: steep climbing and descending over the summit, past both summit aid stations. After that it's a faster run through the forest north of the mountain to the Auberge du Fondeur and back to the finish. The race page gives 32 km and 1,450 m of climbing, with an 8-hour limit and no cutoffs published along the way.

Registration

Registration for 2027 opened on August 1, 2026, on Race Roster, with a limited number of early bird entries at 25% off. In 2026 every race but the 135K had sold out by late April. There's no waitlist. Instead, places freed by refunds are released after each refund deadline: December 16, March 16 and May 16.

The 135K needs a qualifying finish: one trail ultra worth at least 75 points, counting a point for each kilometer and one for every 100 m of climbing. A 60 km race with 1,500 m of climbing just makes it.

Bibs can't be transferred. Refunds are 85% until December 15, 70% until March 15 and 40% until May 15, and nothing after that.

Getting to Mont-Sainte-Anne

Mont-Sainte-Anne is about 40 minutes from Quebec City and an hour from Jean-Lesage International Airport. The organizer quotes taxis at about $85 from Old Quebec and $125 from the airport.

Park at the main Mont-Sainte-Anne lot, which is free for runners with a bib and for accredited crews. You can't leave a car at the 135K, 80K or 50K starts, or sleep in the lot. Free buses take runners only from that lot to the start. In 2027 the 135K bus leaves at 5 p.m. Friday and takes about an hour, the 80K bus at 3:30 a.m. Saturday (about 45 minutes) and the 50K bus at 6 a.m. Friday (about 10 minutes).

Crewing and pacing

Crews pick up an accreditation at bib pickup, which also gets them onto the Mont-Sainte-Anne site for free. Only one crew member may enter an aid station, and only at the stations the organizer allows, flagged in each course's aid station table. Team tents go only at the Auberge du Fondeur. To reach the summit stations, crews buy a gondola ticket. The gondola runs 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and outside those hours the summit is a hike.

Pacers are allowed in the 135K only, for the last 32 km, joining at MSA or the Auberge du Fondeur. Register your pacer at bib pickup for a $10 bib, cash. A pacer carries the same mandatory gear as you and can't carry your food or kit.

Weather and what to carry

July in Quebec City averages a high of 25.0°C (77°F) and a low of 13.9°C (57°F), with 119 mm of precipitation over the month, by the 1991 to 2020 normals at the city's airport. The courses climb to about 795 m over Mont-Sainte-Anne, and the 135K and 80K reach about 815 m on the Massif de Charlevoix. The organizer suggests mosquito and tick repellent and sunscreen.

For the 135K the mandatory kit includes a way to carry 1.5 liters of water, a waterproof windbreaker, a survival blanket, a headlamp with a spare battery, a phone and a self-adhesive compression bandage. Poles aren't allowed on the Mestachibo section of the 135K, 80K or 50K. If you start with them, you carry them all the way. You can't hand them to a crew or put them in a drop bag.

QMT FAQ

When is Québec Mega Trail 2027?

July 1 to 4, 2027. The 135K starts on Friday, July 2 at 8 p.m. and the 50K that morning at 7. The 80K starts on Saturday, July 3 at 5 a.m. and the 32K at 8 a.m.

Is Québec Mega Trail a Western States qualifier?

The 135K is, if you finish in 32 hours or less. The 2027 race counts toward the 2028 Western States lottery. The shorter races aren't qualifiers.

Is Québec Mega Trail part of the Golden Trail World Series?

It was in 2026, when the new QMT30 was the series' only stop in North America. The QMT30 was left out of 2027 registration because the series hadn't published its 2027 calendar. The organizer says it's looking at a return.

Can you have a pacer at Québec Mega Trail?

Only in the 135K, for the last 32 km, from MSA or the Auberge du Fondeur. Only one pacer may join for that section, and they need a $10 pacer bib.

Are poles allowed at Québec Mega Trail?

Yes, except on the Mestachibo section of the 135K, 80K and 50K. On the 50K that's the first 17.5 km, so you can't use them until the MSA aid station.

Where do you park for Québec Mega Trail?

At the main Mont-Sainte-Anne lot, free for runners and accredited crews, then take the race bus to your start. There is no parking at the starts of the 135K, 80K and 50K.
