Oh Meu Deus by UTMB course maps and aid stations

Four races that finish in Seia, in Portugal's Serra da Estrela, from 22 km between villages to 167 km over Torre.

April 30 to May 2, 2027 Seia, Serra da Estrela, Portugal

Oh Meu Deus ("Oh my God") has run in the Serra da Estrela since 2011. It started in Manteigas, moved to Covilhã, and then settled in Seia. In 2026 it joined the UTMB World Series, and more than 2,000 runners from 62 countries came.

Every race finishes in Seia. The 100M comes from the Serra da Lousã over the Serra do Açor, and in 2026 it started in Lousã. The 100K is a loop from Seia, the 50K starts in Loriga, and the 20K in São Romão. All but the 20K climb to Torre, at 1,993 m the highest point in mainland Portugal.

The map shows the 2026 courses, which the race pages still carry. The 2027 100M start hasn't been named, and the organizer warns that routes may change because of fires in the area. Download the map before you go: GPS shows where you are on it without a signal.

The 2026 course left Lousã at 175 m and ran through schist villages in the Serra da Lousã and Serra do Açor before it reached the Serra da Estrela, with its Roman roads and old transhumance paths. The organizer publishes it as 167 km with 8,900 m of climbing, and the course data ends at 167.8 km. The first aid station, Ribeira Cimeira, is 26.4 km in, and Fajão to Malhada Chã is another 22 km gap.

From Alvoco da Serra you climb 1,255 m in under 9 km to the Torre aid station, at 1,895 m in the course data, then drop down the Loriga glacial valley, which the organizer calls technical. Fajão and Loriga have your drop bags. The 2027 start place isn't set yet, though the start time is 18:00 on Friday. The race page's cutoffs didn't fit that start when this page was checked, so they're left off here. Finish in 34 hours or less and you can go on to the Viriato, another 40 km with a 10 hour limit, with no separate registration.

The 100K leaves Seia on farm paths toward the Alva valley, through Vila Cova à Coelheira and Sazes da Beira, past old tungsten mines, to Cabeça. Sazes to Cabeça is the longest gap, 18.8 km. From Alvoco da Serra the Rota do Pastoreio, an old shepherds' route, climbs 1,258 m in 8.8 km to Torre.

You come down through the Loriga gorge, where your drop bag waits, then cross terraces and chestnut groves by Valezim and Lapa dos Dinheiros. Lapa to the finish is about 10 km. The organizer gives it as 94 km and 5,300 m.

The 50K starts in Loriga and follows terraces and an old Roman road to Alvoco da Serra. From there the organizer's "Vertical Kilometer" takes you 1,254 m up in 8.8 km to Torre.

Then you drop 11 km back to Loriga through its glacial gorge and run on by Valezim to Lapa dos Dinheiros, with its chestnut groves, natural pools and waterfalls. The last 10 km pass Senhora do Desterro on the way into Seia. The organizer gives it as 52 km and 2,900 m.

The 20K drops from São Romão to Vila Cova à Coelheira, at 350 m, then climbs on trails lined with old chestnut trees to Lapa dos Dinheiros at 706 m. From there it's about 10 km back to Seia past terraces and waterfalls. The course data gives no cutoff before the finish, which closes at 2:00 PM on Sunday.

Registration

Entry is through UTMB. For 2027, runners with a UTMB Index had a 48 hour priority window from August 4, 2026, and then registration opened to everyone. It stays open until each race sells out, and it was open when this page was checked. There's no waiting list, and later on a few charity bibs go on sale.

Fees run from €173 to €221 for the 100M, €160 to €209 for the 100K, €81 to €127 for the 50K and €51 to €68 for the 20K, plus an 8% administrative fee. You can't pass your bib to someone else or defer it to another year. You can move down to a shorter race up to four weeks before. Refunds come only through the cancellation insurance offered when you register. You must be 18, and the 100M and 100K are for 20 and over. No medical certificate is needed.

Getting to Seia

Seia sits at about 550 m on the northwest side of the Serra da Estrela, about 98 km from Coimbra, 163 km from Porto and 298 km from Lisbon. From Lisbon airport you can take a bus to Coimbra and change for Seia, take a bus from Sete Rios, or take the train from Oriente to Covilhã and a bus from there. From Porto, buses leave from the Campanhã terminal. The organizer reckons on 4 to 5 hours by bus.

The 100M, 50K and 20K start away from Seia, and the organizer runs buses from Seia to each start. You have to reserve your seat in your registration dashboard. The 2027 schedule and transport plans were still being worked out when this page was checked.

Crewing

Crews can meet runners at six support stations: Fajão, Sobral de São Miguel, Cabeça, Alvoco da Serra, Loriga and Lapa dos Dinheiros. Each course's table shows which are on its route. The 50K gets crew only at Loriga and Lapa dos Dinheiros, and the 20K only at Lapa dos Dinheiros. Your crew's wristband comes in your race kit.

One person per runner may help, in a zone from 500 m before to 500 m after the station, carrying no more than a 30 liter bag. There are no pacers: being accompanied on the course outside those zones earns a penalty, and crews may not walk, drive or cycle any part of the course to help.

Weather and kit

At Penhas Douradas, 1,380 m up the range, May averages a high of 14.8°C and a low of 6.7°C, with 105.5 mm of rain (IPMA, 1991 to 2020). Torre is about 600 m higher. The organizer says past editions have had heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and even snow, and that it has stopped runners or changed the course when conditions got dangerous. In rain or fog, highs can stay under 10°C.

Every runner carries a 1 liter water container, a thermal blanket, a waterproof jacket, a working phone, food, a whistle and a cup. The aid stations hand out no cups, plates or cutlery, so the 100M, 100K and 50K also take a bowl. The 100M and 100K add a headlamp with spare batteries and a flashing red light on the back of the pack. If you start with poles you carry them to the finish.
