Lavaredo Ultra Trail course maps and aid stations

Five races in the Dolomites around Cortina d'Ampezzo, from an evening 10K to the 120K that starts at 11 PM and reaches the Tre Cime di Lavaredo at sunrise.

June 23 to 27, 2027 Cortina d'Ampezzo, Veneto

First run in 2007, Lavaredo is the UTMB World Series race in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The 120K leaves Corso Italia late on Friday night, climbs past Misurina to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and comes back to town over Cimabanche, Col Gallina and Passo Giau. The 80K is the only race that doesn't start in Cortina: it leaves from Val Marzon, near Auronzo di Cadore, and runs the same stations as the 120K from Cimabanche to the finish. The 50K, 20K and 10K start and finish on Corso Italia.

The map shows each course as the race pages publish it now, from course files dated 2024 to 2026. The organizer can still change routes and cutoffs for 2027.

The regulations make you keep your phone switched on, and warn that you may cross areas where only emergency calls get through. Download the course map before you go: your phone's GPS shows where you are without a signal.

The 20th edition starts at 11 PM on Friday 25 June 2027, with 30 hours to finish. The night takes you past Ospitale and Passo Tre Croci to Misurina, and you reach the Tre Cime di Lavaredo around sunrise. Forcella Lavaredo, at 2,449 m, is the high point. Cimabanche is where your drop bag waits and the first place a crew can help. After Col Gallina come Passo Giau, Croda da Lago and the descent into Cortina. The race page calls it 120 km and 5,800 m of climbing; the course data on the map, from a course file dated 2026, says 120.8 km and 5,364 m.

The 80K, mapped here from a 2025 course file, starts at 7 AM on Saturday 26 June 2027 in Val Marzon, an alpine valley near Auronzo di Cadore, and you have 22 hours. The organizer says the Tre Cime come into view in the first 10 km, and the course passes beneath their north faces. The only listed water point before Cimabanche, at 26 km, is a stream at Val di Cengia around km 8.

From Cimabanche on it shares the 120K's stations and cutoffs: Malga Ra Stua, the fountain at Malga Travenanzes, Col Gallina, Passo Giau and Croda da Lago. Getting to the start isn't part of the entry, so plan your ride to Val Marzon.

The 50K starts on Corso Italia at 8 AM on Friday 25 June 2027, with 12 hours to finish. The organizer calls it a perfect ring around the mountains of Cortina. It's 17.2 km to the first water point, the fountain at Malga Travenanzes, and then you join the end of the long races at Col Gallina, Passo Giau and Croda da Lago before dropping back to town.

No one may help you anywhere on the course. The race page calls it 50 km and 2,600 m; the course data, from a 2024 course file, says 48.8 km and 2,655 m.

The organizer calls this the "nastiest" race of the event, with steep climbs and technical descents. It starts at 5 PM on Thursday 24 June 2027, so you see the Dolomites at sunset, and you have 4 hours. You climb to Crepe de Zumeles, which has a 6:50 PM cutoff at 8.5 km, and over Forcella Zumeles at 1,994 m, then come down to the only aid station, Malga Larieto.

The map shows a 2024 variant of the course. Poles aren't allowed, and nobody may help you along the way.

The 10K opens the week at 7 PM on Wednesday 23 June 2027, with 2 hours to finish. There's no aid on the course, only at the finish, so the organizer recommends carrying half a liter of water. The only timing point on the way is Lago Pianozes, at 6.5 km in the 2025 course file.

Registration

The 120K, 80K, 50K and 20K go by lottery. For 2027, pre-registration ran from 7 to 14 September 2026, people drawn had until 21 September to pay, and places left over went to a second draw on 22 September. You can enter as a group of two to five, even on different distances, and the group is drawn together or not at all. Anyone who missed out in both 2025 and 2026 could claim a guaranteed place in a priority window that September, as long as they met the entry requirements.

The 10K is first come, first served. It opened on 6 October 2026 for UTMB Index holders and on 8 October for everyone else, and it was still open when this page was checked.

You need a UTMB Index for the long races: 100K or 100M for the 120K, 50K or longer for the 80K, 20K or longer for the 50K. The 20K and 10K need only a My UTMB account. Fees for 2027 are €320.31 for the 120K, €224.49 for the 80K, €173.84 for the 50K, €83.50 for the 20K and €39.70 for the 10K. Entries can't be transferred or deferred. For the three long races you get 60% back if you cancel by 23 February 2027 and 30% by 23 April; the 20K and 10K aren't refundable.

Italian law requires a medical certificate for competitive sport, for every distance. Upload it between 10 January and 15 May 2027.

Getting to Cortina d'Ampezzo

Cortina is in the province of Belluno, about 72 km from Belluno and 44 km from the Austrian border. Venice is the closest airport, and buses and private shuttles take a little under two hours from there: Cortina Express, ATVO and Flixbus run the route, and summer timetables come out at the end of April. By car from the south, take the A27 toward Belluno and then the SS51 Alemagna. From the north, leave the A22 Brenner motorway at Bressanone and follow the signs for Dobbiaco and Cortina.

You collect your bib in person, with a valid ID, at the Olympic Ice Stadium in Cortina. If you're running the 80K, you need your own way to Val Marzon.

Crews and drop bags

The races are run in semi-autonomy. In the 120K and 80K, one person may help you at Cimabanche and Col Gallina, in the area set aside for it, and nowhere else. The 80K page adds that your helper can only go in once you've arrived. The 50K, 20K and 10K allow no help at all. There are no pacers: running with anyone outside the marked zones near the aid stations costs you a penalty.

Bag transport is included for the 120K and 80K, and the 120K's course data puts your bag at Cimabanche. The aid stations don't hand out cups, plates, bowls or cutlery, so carry your own if you want hot food.

Weather and kit

June in Cortina averages a high of 19.8°C and a low of 8.6°C, with rain on about 13 days of the month, by ISPRA's 1991 to 2020 normals. The courses climb far above town, to 2,449 m at Forcella Lavaredo and 2,250 m at Passo Giau. The organizer can change the kit list on the forecast up to 12 hours before a start.

For the 120K, 80K and 50K, the mandatory kit includes a hooded waterproof jacket with a membrane rated at least 10,000 Schmerber, warm waterproof gloves, long trousers or tights, a long-sleeved top, a liter of water, a thermal blanket, a whistle and at least €20 to buy food at the huts. The 120K and 80K add a headlamp with spare batteries. Poles are allowed in the 120K, 80K and 50K, but not in the 20K.
