Jujuy Fuerza Sagrada by UTMB course maps and aid stations

Six races through the striped hills between Tilcara and Purmamarca, from a 4.4 km loop to an 88K that climbs above 3,800 m.

March 31 to April 4, 2027 Tilcara and Purmamarca, Jujuy

Jujuy Fuerza Sagrada by UTMB is a UTMB World Series race in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, the UNESCO-listed valley in Argentina's far north. The 2027 race is the first, so there are no past results to go on. It replaces Ushuaia by UTMB in the series.

The races run from Friday 2 April to Sunday 4 April. The 88K starts in Tilcara; the 50K, 35K and 21K start at Incahuasi, between Tilcara and Purmamarca; the 12K and 5K go out from Purmamarca and back. Every course finishes in Purmamarca, below the Cerro de los Siete Colores.

The regulations tell runners that in some areas only emergency calls get through. Download the course map before you travel: GPS shows you where you are on it without a signal.

Registration

Registration opened on 22 September 2026 at 12:00 Argentina time. ARS 50,000 or US$50 reserves your place and fixes the price, and you pay the rest in two instalments, due by 12 October and 12 November 2026. In US dollars, the 88K came to $368 in all and the 5K to $100, before the compulsory medical insurance and the platform's costs.

All six races now show as sold out on UTMB's race search, and the registration page has a waiting list form. The longer distances need a valid UTMB Index, which means you've finished a race that awards one, whatever the score. To switch distance, if there's room, email jujuy@service.utmb.world: it costs ARS 10,000 or US$10, plus any difference in price.

Upload a medical certificate and an honor statement to your MyUTMB profile before 15 March 2027. Without the organizer's approval you can't start. Check-in is on 31 March and 1 April.

Getting to Tilcara and Purmamarca

Fly into Horacio Guzmán International Airport, also called El Cadillal, 32 km from San Salvador de Jujuy. It has direct flights from Buenos Aires and Córdoba, and from Asunción in Paraguay. Long-distance buses from across Argentina run to San Salvador de Jujuy: Balut, Flecha Bus, Andesmar, La Veloz del Norte and 20 de Junio.

From the city, National Route 9 runs north up the Quebrada. Purmamarca is 65 km away, just west of the highway on National Route 52, and Tilcara is 84 km.

Crew, drop bags and kit

The regulations allow one assistant per runner in the longer races, at certain aid stations, in a zone that runs from 500 m before the station to 500 m after it. The race pages don't name those stations yet. Your assistant can only hand you a bag of up to 30 liters. There are no pacers: running with anyone outside the race, beyond the marked spectator zones, breaks the self-sufficiency rule.

The 88K and the 50K each have one drop bag, at El Paso. Pick yours up at the finish within 2 hours of the race closing.

The aid stations hand out no disposable cups or cutlery, so carry a cup, and your own utensils if you want hot food. If you start with poles, you carry them to the finish. Headphones aren't allowed.

Weather and altitude

Early April comes just after the rains. In Tilcara, nearly all of the year's rain falls between November and March, and April averages 3 mm, with a daily mean of 13.0 °C (55.4 °F).

The 88K runs between 2,167 m and 3,830 m, and the finish in Purmamarca is at 2,345 m. If you can, get there a few days early to adjust to the altitude. The regulations ask you to be ready for night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow up high.

Jujuy by UTMB FAQ

When is Jujuy Fuerza Sagrada by UTMB 2027?

From 31 March to 4 April 2027. Check-in is on 31 March and 1 April. The 35K and 21K run on Friday 2 April, the 88K and 50K on Saturday 3 April, and the 12K and 5K on Sunday 4 April.

Has Jujuy by UTMB been run before?

No. 2027 is the first edition, so there are no results yet. The race takes the UTMB World Series spot that Ushuaia by UTMB used to hold.

Can you still register for Jujuy by UTMB?

Not directly. All six races are sold out. The registration page has a waiting list form.

Does Jujuy by UTMB qualify you for the UTMB World Series Finals?

The top three women and men in the 88K, the 100K category race, get a place in CCC, and the top three in the KUNTUR 50K a place in OCC. Finishers of the 88K, 50K, 35K and 21K earn Running Stones for the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc lottery, which also needs a valid UTMB Index.

Are there cutoffs at Jujuy by UTMB?

Each race has an overall limit: 23 hours 30 minutes for the 88K, 12 hours 30 minutes for the 50K, 11 hours for the 35K, 7 for the 21K, 3 for the 12K and 1 for the 5K. The regulations say the cutoffs at aid stations will come in the runner's guide.

Where can I download the Jujuy by UTMB GPX?

The race pages on jujuy.utmb.world have a GPX download for every race but the 35K, whose page hides it. You can also take this page's maps offline in Goat Maps. The distances and climbing on this page come from the course data behind each race page's aid station table, and differ slightly from the figures at the top of those pages.
