Brasil Ride Espinhaço stages and race guide

Three days of mountain biking in the Serra do Espinhaço, 151 km in all, every stage starting and finishing at the arena in Conceição do Mato Dentro.

November 13 to 15, 2026 Conceição do Mato Dentro, Minas Gerais

Brasil Ride Espinhaço is a three-day mountain bike stage race in Conceição do Mato Dentro, a town in the Serra do Espinhaço of Minas Gerais. In 2026 it runs November 13 to 15: a 16 km prologue on Friday, an 84 km stage on Saturday and 51 km on Sunday. You can race it solo, in a pair or on an e-bike, and there's a one-day race on the Sunday.

Every stage starts at the Arena Brasil Ride on Alameda Salão de Pedras, in Conceição do Mato Dentro, and the finish arch is in the same place. The organizer hadn't published the 2026 routes or water points when this page was checked, so the map shows only the arena, with no course drawn on it. The regulation warns that parts of the course are remote and hard to reach, and that rescue there can take longer than in town. Take the map offline before you go: your phone's GPS shows where you are without a signal.

The prologue is 16 km with 393 m of climbing. MTB Pro riders go off in heats, one every 10 minutes by category, from 12:10 to 16:00; the e-bikes start first at noon. The organizer posts the heat times on its site and app the day before. If two riders end the race on the same total time, the faster prologue wins.

The 2025 prologue, also from Salão de Pedras, had the same 16 km and 393 m.

Saturday is the big one: 84 km with 2,340 m of climbing, more than half the race's distance in a day. MTB Pro riders start at 8:00. The e-bike race rides a shorter stage 2, 43 km with 1,320 m, starting at 7:45.

The 2026 route wasn't out when this page was checked. In 2025, when the race ran five stages in May, the longest went out to the Serra do Intendente and Tabuleiro, 83.3 km with 2,340 m. Carry enough food and water to get between the organizer's water points, and the spares to fix your own bike.

Your time stops at a timing point before the finish arch, for traffic safety, and you have 20 neutralized minutes to roll through the arch. Go over that and the extra counts against you. The organizer expects to hand out the prizes at 15:00.

Entry and fees

Registration is closed: the race page said so on October 14, a month before the start. Entry went through Sprinta, and the page still lists the second batch, October 10 to November 11, at R$1,490 for MTB Pro solo or E-bike Pro, R$2,980 for an MTB Pro pair and R$449 for the one-day Sport race, each plus a fee. That covered your number plate, a jersey, a medal, bike wash and insurance.

Pairs ride together all three days, never more than 2 minutes apart at the finish or a control point, or they take a 20 minute penalty. If you're entered and can't race after all, you can cancel within 7 days of entering for a full refund, less the fee. After that, an injury with a medical certificate gets you 50% back within 30 days of confirming, or a transfer to another rider up to 60 days before the race, for 20% of the standard entry.

Getting to Conceição do Mato Dentro

Fly to Belo Horizonte International Airport at Confins. The organizer puts Conceição do Mato Dentro about two hours away, and the MG-010 links the town to Belo Horizonte. Brasil Ride has a car rental discount with Unidas: use the code BRASILRIDE.

Pro riders pick up their kit at the arena on Friday from 8:30 to 14:00, before the prologue. Sport riders collect theirs on Saturday from 14:00 to 19:00 or on Sunday from 7:30 to 9:00. The race page lists hotels and pousadas in town, in Tabuleiro 20 km away and in Serra do Cipó 60 km away. For help booking, the town's tourism office answers on 31 3868-1659, weekdays 8:00 to 17:00.

Support and what to carry

There are water points along each stage, and one of them has a basic mechanic. Support vehicles aren't allowed on the course, and outside help anywhere but the organizer's points can get you disqualified. Carry your own food and drink, spare tubes, a pump and tools. A buckled helmet is mandatory and headphones are banned. You ride one bike for the whole race, and you can walk it, but never leave it behind.

The course is marked with lime on the ground, tape and signs. It isn't closed to traffic, so Brazil's traffic code applies and you're expected to keep right. The time limit for each stage is announced on the day, before the start.

E-bikes are limited to 45 km/h of assist, and you have to finish each stage on the battery you started with: there's nowhere to swap. On one stage the e-bike finish is away from the arena, and you make your own way back.

Weather in November

November is the rainy season here. In Conceição do Mato Dentro it's the third wettest month, after December and January, with 239 mm of rain on about 15 days, by INMET's 1981 to 2010 normals. Highs average 28.8°C and lows 18.4°C, and the town's record high, 38.6°C, was set on November 15, 2023.

The regulation lets the organizer postpone the race for heavy rain, or if a wet week has ruined the course. Check the race's site or app the day before the race. Plan for heat and storms on the same ride, and pack a rain jacket even if the morning is clear.
