Six races in the mountains above Bariloche, from a 12K on Cerro Otto to a 130K over Otto, Pontoneros, Catedral and Bella Vista.

November 18 to 22, 2026 San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina

Patagonia Bariloche by UTMB is a UTMB World Series race in San Carlos de Bariloche, on Lake Nahuel Huapi in Argentine Patagonia. It was first run in November 2025, in the southern spring, and 2,769 runners finished across the six distances.

Every course finishes at the Centro Cívico in town. The 130K and 85K also start there, the 55K and 33K start at Los Baqueanos at the south end of Lake Gutiérrez, and the 22K and 12K start at Cerro Lindo. The two longest courses climb Cerro Pontoneros and Cerro Catedral, with a high point of about 1,960 m.

The regulations warn that parts of the course only get emergency calls. Download the course map before you go: your phone's GPS shows where you are without a signal.

Registration and qualifying

Entry is through your MyUTMB account, paid by card or Mercado Pago. Every race sold out for 2026. The longer distances need a valid UTMB Index, which just means you've finished a race that gives one.

There are no refunds or transfers. You could change distance until October 1, 2026, for a fee of ARS 10,000 or USD 10.

The 130K, 85K and 55K are in the 100M, 100K and 50K categories of the UTMB World Series. Their top three men and women get a place in UTMB, CCC or OCC at the Finals in Chamonix.

Getting to Bariloche

Bariloche's airport, Teniente Luis Candelaria (BRC), is 13 km out of town and has flights from around Argentina. By car the organizer puts Buenos Aires about 1,700 km and 20 hours away. There's also a weekly train from Viedma, and a boat and bus crossing of the lakes from Puerto Varas, Chile.

Pick up your bib on November 18, 19 or 20, with photo ID. The 130K and 85K start at the Centro Cívico, in the middle of town. The 55K and 33K start at Los Baqueanos and the 22K and 12K at Cerro Lindo. Your entry fee doesn't cover transport to the start.

Crewing

The regulations allow one crew member per runner at certain aid stations. The course tables mark them on the 130K (El Chúcaro and Colonia Suiza) and the 85K (El Chúcaro and Refugio Cazadores), and on none of the shorter courses. Crew can hand over a bag of up to 30 liters in the assistance area, which runs 500 m either side of the station, and can't give medical help.

Pacers aren't allowed. Nobody who isn't registered can run with you outside the marked zones near aid stations. Drop bags have to be picked up at the finish within two hours after the race ends.

Weather and kit

November at Bariloche's airport averages a high of 17.9°C and a low of 3.9°C, with about 30 mm of rain, by the national weather service's 1991 to 2020 normals. The high points are more than a thousand meters above town, and the regulations warn of wind, cold, fog, rain or snow at altitude.

The organizer can add an adverse weather kit to the mandatory gear before bib pick-up. Aid stations have no disposable cups or cutlery, so bring your own if you want hot food. Headphones aren't allowed, and if you start with poles you carry them to the finish.
