Andalucía Bike Race stage maps and guide

Six days of mountain biking in Andalucía for pairs or solo riders, mapped here with the 2026 stages in Granada, Jaén and Córdoba.

February 22 to 27, 2027 Andalucía, Spain

The Andalucía Bike Race is a six-day mountain bike stage race in southern Spain, first run in 2011. It's a UCI race for pairs, category SHC, with five marathon stages and one time trial, and solo riders can enter an Open class. The 2026 race was planned with two days each in Granada, Jaén and Córdoba.

The 2027 race runs from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 February. Its stages aren't out yet, so the map shows where each 2026 stage started and finished as the organizer published them. That year stage 1 in Granada was cancelled after extreme weather. The race opened with the time trial instead, cut to 16.87 km around Huétor Vega.

The organizer posts each stage's GPX on its website the day before, and the rules don't let you share it. Download this map to see where each stage starts and finishes before you get there.

The 2026 plan left the Palacio de Congresos through the Carrera del Darro and Sacromonte, then crossed the Dúdar ridges and climbed to the Tres Torres. It came back past the Beas quarries and the Quéntar reservoir and along the Genil to finish on the Paseo del Salón.

The organizer cancelled it for safety after extreme weather in Andalucía that February, so no one rode it. The map shows its start and finish as published.

As published for 2026, the time trial climbed through the Barranco de las Mansiegas and up the Camino de los Neveros, then dropped toward Monachil and Huétor Vega. In the middle came a cross-country loop with rock gardens and narrow trail, then the run back into central Granada.

After the storms the organizer changed the route, and riders raced 16.87 km with 634 m of climbing, starting and finishing at the Huétor Vega fairground. The map shows the start and finish as first published.

Entry and licences

Registration for 2027 opened on 1 September 2026 and closes at 13:00 CET on 12 February 2027, or sooner if the 800 places fill. Pairs pay €700 per pair until 21 December and €800 after. The solo Open class is €350 per person, then €400. Two stages in one host city cost €95, and you can't enter a single stage.

The entry covers feed zones, mechanics on course, medical cover, bike wash, a guarded bike park and showers. You need a competition licence from a UCI national federation; a cycle-touring licence won't do. Without one, buy the temporary Spanish federation licence with your entry. Riders with a foreign licence also need a letter from their federation saying its insurance covers the race.

Until 30 November you can cancel for a 40% penalty or move to 2028. After that it's a transfer to 2028 only, and from 13 February nothing is refunded. Two-stage entries are never refunded.

Getting there

Granada's airport is about 15 km west of the city, with flights from Madrid, Barcelona and a few other European cities. Jaén has no airport: Granada's is 65 km away and Málaga's 136 km. Jaén's station is the end of the high-speed line from Madrid.

You pick up your number the day before the first stage, from 16:30 to 19:30, in a time slot you choose when you register. In 2026 that was at the Palacio de Congresos in Granada, which was also the paddock. Bring your ID and your licence. You can't camp or sleep in the paddock.

Racing as a pair

You and your partner ride the whole race together, never more than two minutes apart anywhere on course. Get caught with a bigger gap and it's a five minute penalty, rising each time, and your team is out on the fourth. Your time is the second rider's across the line.

Help is allowed only in the technical zones, which are the feed zones unless the organizer says otherwise. Anywhere else costs a minute and a 50 Swiss franc fine, then disqualification. The course is arrowed, with every 10 km and the last 5 km marked, so you don't need a GPS to follow it. Every control and feed zone has a closing time, published in each stage's route book on the race website. E-bikes and tandems aren't allowed. Before each stage, write your number on your gels and bars, which are checked at random.

February weather

Late February is cool and can be wet. Granada's airport averages 15.4°C by day and 1.6°C at night in February, Jaén 13.8°C and 6.2°C, and Córdoba's airport 17.4°C and 4.7°C, with about six rainy days in the month at each.

The rules warn that some stages may need a rain jacket, arm warmers and leg warmers, and the organizer doesn't hand them out. In 2026 extreme weather cancelled the first stage and changed the second, so pack for the cold even if the forecast is sunny. Carry a phone: the emergency number is printed on the course signs, your bike plate, your back number and your wristband.
